Dear Community Partner,

The Wolf Battalion, comprised of students from Plano West, Jasper and Shepton High Schools, is a collaborative effort between the Army and Plano ISD. It is part of the largest youth program in the nation, featuring an accredited curriculum in high schools. This program serves as a character and leadership development initiative for our high school students. Importantly, there is no military service obligation for participants. In fact, most students pursue higher education opportunities or other lucrative trade opportunities after graduation. Our program focuses on shaping community leaders and well-rounded citizens, and we take pride in how our cadets exceed expectations at school, at home and in life.

While the US Army supports essential tasks and trips for our program, the Wolf Battalion experience offers so much more than military funding alone can provide. With your support, our students will have the opportunity to engage in innovative STEM activities including Robotics (programming and coding), Drones and Cyber Patriot. They will also participate in parades, competitive events, ceremonies, community service opportunities and attend the highly coveted Military Ball – an event that serves as a “prom” for many students. We all recognize that education extends beyond basic lessons, and these activities not only motivate cadets to maintain their academic focus and succeed in high school, but they also create some of their most memorable school experiences!

Here are some reflections from our cadets:

“JROTC is a place where I can strengthen my body, mind and spirit, where I can find camaraderie with others, a place where I can get help from educators and fellow students on the next steps after high school. I can be myself and find friends anywhere I look, JROTC is a place where I can do anything.”

“JROTC is important to me because it has taught me principles, shown me how to become a leader, the importance of leadership and opened doors for me that I did not know could open.”

“To me JROTC means team building, working with my fellow cadets to meet a common goal that benefits the program, it means citizenship, the improvement and betterment of one’s self as a citizen, it means community service, finding a valid need in the community that we believe we can make a difference in, lastly, to me it means building my skill set, learning new techniques and skills that will benefit me as a person after high school that will aid in everyday life, leaving a lasting effect on me.”
